Over the weekend, we drove south to Monterey for a little coastal getaway (that also included Carmel and Big Sur). If you haven’t noticed already, we travel with the dogs whenever possible. So it’s little wonder that we’ve become quite the connoisseurs of dog-friendly hotels. Our go-to option in those parts of the woods (err, sand?) is Casa Munras. We really can’t take credit for the find. It was Brendan’s cousin’s wedding when we first visited but that was life before dogs. Little did we know that years later, we’d keep coming back for the clean (but simple) rooms with fireplaces and a (very child-friendly) pool. There’s also a spa (but we haven’t ever taken advantage of it). Tip: beds aren’t very large so bring doggy beds to free up some space for a better night’s rest. There is a dog surcharge of $50 for up to two dogs.
^^Our room this past stay had a very cool retro fireplace that threw some nice heat. And I thought the leather armchairs rounded out the vintage aesthetic. Penelope agreed.^^
^^Right after we checked in, we headed over for Happy Hour (or, as they like to say, Hora Feliz) at Estéban, the hotel’s restaurant complete with fire pit and outdoor patio. The drinks were $5, but I can’t say the sangria or mojito were anything special.^^
^^But I’d never hesitate from paying for drinks in exchange for enjoying the setting. I’m wearing Prada sunglasses and the hat is from Free People.^^
^^Gorgeous Layla enjoying the early summer weather on the patio.^^
^^And Penelope, too!^^
